avian flu H5N1 or pig flu h1n1
1st Rule Don't panic to catch it
you need not only to have flu but to ingest infected liquids from a
bird at the infectious stage so unless into very odd practices we all
have more chance of winning the lottery. The meat ; eggs etc pose no
threat in the UK . . .it is blood etc that transmits it to humans and 5
species including cats and pigs.In the old phrase coughs and sneezes
etc the bird has to be infected and sneeze at you at the same time you
have flu. ... odds in the uk VERY VERY HIGH . . against
2nd Rule Muscovies are the
sentinel birds with NO resistance so one sudden death .. . bag in a
poly bag/sack . . if a second follows within a few days ring the
Government vet at DEFRA asap. Bag also without handling . . wash scrub
etc they prefer to check earlier rather than later. Do NOT take to
local vet any carcases .Other breeds if a sudden loss of weight and
unexplained death of more than one bird check especailly if in
migratory flight path areas ( east coast mainly)
3rd Rule . . look to Biosecurity
mend pens; houses in case it moves near you ie Springcleaning before
DEFRA call .Be aware
