Large Geese.....to locate by picture

The geese are becoming a worry as the increasing urbanization means that fewer numbers are kept thus diminishing the gene pool available and due to problems in the past (BSE etc) many of the foodstuffs have been altered , and the changing climate have all helped to create a scenario of many geese not breeding and also the increasing rarity of many breeds. They are thus our societies emblem

Large breeds of geese need considerable amounts of water that can be easily changed ie do not buy a pond that cannot be emptied easily in midsummer.

They often pair rather than live in groups and need grazing and often supplementary greens to vary the diet. Most are long lived and many will not breed until at least two years old ; many as old as four(females)
